Setting up my QT Tank - Good Plan?

Folks,

I'm going to setup my QT this week, and just wanted a level set. here is my plan:

I have a HoB filter I will use, along with a heater, LED light and power head. I also have a Brightwell xPort BioBrick, along with MicroBacter7. My plan was to use the water from my weekly water change to fill the tank, and dose the MicroBacter7 to seed the BioBrick. Is this a good plan?

Also, I have the following medicines on hand. Any advice on how to administer them? My plan was to keep the fish in QT for 14 days, and preventative treat them before going into the display tank.

I'm grateful for any advice on getting things setup to safely accept fish.

I'm not an expert on medicating in quarantine, but I definitely know that you wouldn't want to mix medications. When I quarantine, the first step is always Prazipro to kill any internal worms and parasites. This medication has very few side effects on the fish, so I always use it preemptively. Cupramine is used to kill ich, but it really is a poison to both fish and parasites, with the fish having a slight tolerance. Because of this, I would only use it preemptively with very susceptible ich/velvet fish like tangs. I haven't used the others, but I know Furan-2 is an antibiotic, which should be fairly safe (except for wiping out beneficial bacteria).

Just keep in mind that these fish have been shipped from across the world and are VERY stressed. There is a fine line between medications helping and hurting. Best of luck with your new arrivals!

Looks like a good setup.
I'll pass on commenting on the meds. The stickies in the fish disease section are your friend.

If you have a display tank already up, I'd let my filters and ceramic media soak in the sump as long as I could. Might as well start the qt with some established bacteria.

Place some 2" or larger PVC elbows, pipe pieces, etc... for the fish to have something to hide in. I like adding fake plants and fake coral pieces in there as well to help with breaking up the "sterile" look and help the fish's stress level.

How you use your meds and the order of the meds depends on the fish you are quarantining... As for the light, keep it off for the first week. I don't use a light at all with quarantining fish...I only use a light with quarantining corals.

The meds used will depend on the fish you're quarantining. Do a search on here for each medication and you should find a thread on each one and how to use that med. For prophylactic treatment, I typically use Copper Safe, Prazipro, General Cure, and Focus (not a med, but binds the med to food when treating fir internal parasites and worms).
