I spot some ich on my yellow kole tang. I’m setting up a QT in a nuvo 10. I’ve read the post of the QT process. My question is since I’m wanting to do this ASAP and haven’t had the tank cycled what are my options for having bacteria consume wastes.

Have had luck with the following
Biospira
Dr tims all in one
Microbacter 7

None are perfect for insta cycling.
Get a sachem ammonia badge and keep a bucket of fresh salt water made for any emergency water changes you need to do.

If using copper you will have to dose the water change water to the level of the qt before adding.

^agreed. Get a bacteria starter. Probably the most accessible one is biospira, they sell it at Petco. When I did mine I did fritzyme and just added very small pieces of live rock for the bacteria to attach too.

I’ve had great luck with BioSpira, Dr. Tim’s, and I hear great things about Fritz Turbostart 900.

Is a couple of frag plugs with coral that didn’t make it considered seeded media? Also I plan to pick up a ammonia badge and Dr Tims/biospria... would a chunk of sponge in the back chamber of the nuvo10 help harbor beneficial bacteria?

The sponge would be great! Wouldnt use the coral skeletons could absorb medications.

Also, I’ve read not feed nori??.... or is this just to reduce floating un eaten food?
