Setting up salt water tank from freshwater

Hey guys im setting up a new 55 gallon salt water tank over from my freshwater im wondering if my light from my freshwater is okay for salt water picture below** If you guys have any tips for setting it up I would appreciate it as well

32 watts in a 55g may support softies, but anything else, nope.
You’d be looking at two, 80-165watt lights for a 55g mixed tank.

If your looking to do fish only then it would work but your better off looking at a black box light if you don’t want to spend a lot this way you will be able to add coral if choose in the future. Also browse the for sale thread amd you may be able to find a good deal.

I’d look into some ReefBrite XHO’s if you’re on a budget. Simple plug and play. Nice even coverage too. Comparable to T5’s ... Tons of various black boxout Leds out there also. Lots of videos on those and every other light on the market. Lots of choices. I’d recommend doing some research. Not sure what you intend on keeping. I’d also invest in a decent part meter. I like the apogee MQ-510...

If you on a tight budget, you might look into a cheap T5 fixture on Amazon, then pair it with good T5 bulbs (ATI Brand)

That light would be sufficient for fish, and maybe some soft corals.

I would also recommend 1 or 2 165w black box lights. I am running mars aquas, but have heard vivarspectra has better PAR. Keeping soft corals and a bubbletip anenome no problem.

I have been looking at some of those lights but id there a way to hold them over your tank without hanging them by the ceiling or a rack above it. Is there a bracket for those types of tank lights?

Theres 4 points that attach to the light and go to a carabineer you could have some sort of mount and clip it to that the lights weigh 5-8 pounds depending on the light.

I was wondering the same thing. Lol... The Op being a new member may have gotten confused and accidentally posted wrong. This is far from an Emergency! Haha. But then you have to wonder. What age group and what kind of people are posting on these forums.
