So, I just got an octo pulse 2 in, I like it much better than my old one. My big question is, I have a 36 gallon bowfront, only other movement through the tank right now is my reef octopus 100 HOB skimmer, and the smallest eheim liberty set to the lowest setting, just a cheap way to have carbon and a filter. I currently have my pulse 2 on the lowest setting, and I'm not sure if it's too much. The thing that makes me wonder this is my clowns are acting.. Well, goofy, they have a spot at the very front of the tank at the bottom that they sleep in, and they were acting like they were having to fight the current. But, also clowns being clowns, they could just be being goofy.

I was also wondering if anyone knew roughly what the different settings were rated on gph for the octo pulse 2? I tried googling, but couldn't find it. I'm assuming it's basically a division of ten or some sort?

Because they have a narrow stream you should try and bounce it off the glass, rock ect.... If the clowns were in a happy place with little current you should try to keep it the same.

I have an Octo Pulse 2 on a C-Vue 45 AIO. The pump comes with 4 programs and 8 power settings. According to the manual, the lowest setting of 1 is 850 GPH and then it goes up incrementally to around 1600 GPH. A great pump. Well-built and really quite. You can also direct the flow quite well. This would be an awesome wavemaker for lager tanks or bare bottom SPS tanks.

My main problem with this pump is the _minimum_ flow rate appears to be 850 GPH. For example, a wave setting going from a power setting of 1 to 4 is really going from 850 GPH to 1170 GPH. In my small mostly LPS tank, that is more flow than I wanted and being able to go from 200 (like an MP 10) to some higher flow rate would have been much more useful.

That appears to be roughly 23 x my water volune, so that should be fine shouldn't it?

While it is fine for some corals it might not be fine for others. Same with fish.

So, somehow I completely didn't see the first part of your first reply. I've angled it even more towards the glass (which it roughly already was) after some googling of the other flow rates for my other equipment it appears I have 26.1x turn over rate.
