What do you guys set your Red Sea 50 lights to? I just got these lights nothing in my aquarium yet. Planning on a mixed reef tank. Thanks.

Following to see if you get an answer! I posted something similar a few days ago and haven’t gotten much guidance.... I’m a nube but here’s what I’ve been running for about a week now on my 13.5G fluval and everything in my tank is fine (aside from an anemone that was already temperamental pre-new light) **My tank has been setup and filled with fish/coral for about a year now, was running stock fluval light til upgraded 2 weeks ago and playing with settings since** The only feedback I’ve gotten is I have nothing that would need 100% on blue or white. ‍♀️

So far I've set mine to 30% whites and 80% blues after doing some digging. I would also suggest if you have only had a tank for under a year to find someone to take back your anemone... it will most likely die in your tank which will probably kill everything in your tank.

Very close to mine that as pictured is 75 blues 30 whites with moon cycle and sunrise/sunset. I’ve had my tank for a little over a year, but why would the anemone die in my tank? I only got it about 2-3 weeks ago just before the light change and am watching him carefully. He’s not fully expanded but he’s attached, had moved around a bit first, but has eaten both times I’ve fed.... he seems ok/not dying, just not fully happy. Do you feel that because of the size of the tank?

additionally, if I do need to let him go due to tank size or not getting happier... I am very close with the people who run a large captive breeding facility/distribution center here that would be able to quarantine, raise, and throw in their display if need be if the store he was purchased from will not take him.

Anemones are just super tricky. From your post I thought you were saying your tank had only been up for a few weeks lol I clearly just read it wrong. If its been up for a long time you should be fine if your parameters are good. When I first started keeping anemones in my 55 I had a ton of trouble, but if your tank has been up for over a year and your parameters are good you should be fine! Just watch it carefully because sometimes when they die in the tank they will kill everything else!

Yah, that’s what I hear... I don’t want him killing anyone! I just wish he would bubble up more and extend out all the way! I accidentally did a salinity shift a little too quickly after some bad advice from my lfs last week.... so am hoping once he chills out from that he’ll start looking better.... and love this light more than my stock one! Sorry for the confusion, I probably worded it weird lol. But yes my tank has been set up and filled live sand/rock fish and coral for over a year.... the anemone and light are both within the last few weeks :)

Hopefully he adjusts soon! Good luck!

I also recently purchased this light and have been tinkering with settings. Would be interested if either of you have any updates on the program you are running or how the corals are reacting to the lighting. I had been running the default 18k program on my 20 cube, but that seems too high for what I currently have (zoas, birdsnest, hammer, kenya tree, and monte cap). Thanks!

How in the world are you guys getting your 50’s to program under 100% blue? I feel like I’m taking crazy pills… but no matter what I try’s every program insists I run my blues at 100%, even custom programs. The “pencil/edit” button in the program doesn’t allow me to do anything. Am I missing something?
