I'm pretty conservative about putting animals in a system that is too small. I gave away my blue damasel because she outgrew the five gallons.

I'm considering a small neon goby as the next fish. I'm wondering if I could get 2-3 of them in a 5g or if I should stick to just the one. Nitrates are NOT a concern. I dose and it's very hard to keep nutrients up.

A pair should be fine

As long as it is a definite pair, they will be fine. Currently I have several in a 40 and one is very aggressive towards the others.
