New tank, with sump 110 gallons. Since I'm starting from scratch I'm entertaining using Aquaforest, however the videos online are not much help, and when I ask other Aquaforest users questions they don't seem to have answers which worries me. This tells me the system is so complicated they can't even give answers or to time consuming to give proper advice.

My first question is are the Components 1, 2,3 made to be in conjunction with Aquaforest's salt? Or can I use any salt? These jugs are huge and will not fit under my stand. Going off Aquaforest's website I'll be dosing roughly 250mL a day. That would mean filling my liter bottles every four days. Am I overestimating the real estate this product uses in a stand?

Which brings me to cost. 56.99 for the three components. That's 5000mL for dosing. At 250mL a day that is less than a month's worth. Every month another 56.99. So about a grand a year. I realize there are a mix your own which brings me to my next question.

Not readily available in the US. I found the products but many times they appear sold out, or not in stock which would be very problematic. The mix your own system included. Also, many of the other products I noticed in the video have no US outlets. Is there a place I am missing?

Water changes. How often are they needed and how bad does a water change upset the balling method?

I noticed many people having issues with one component being out of wack and not being able to resolve it. Is this a common issue?

What does Aquaforest suggest in the sump? Fuge? Bio? Carbon? No Carbon? Gfo?

Does Aquaforest work with carbon sources like NoPox or Reef Fuel, or do they have their own product?

My goals for this tank is easy easy easy. Mixed reef, a few fish. I recently, thanks to covid, had to change jobs where I will be gone for weeks at a time, so I need a system that can run with little issue and easy enough that someone else can look after it with some training.

Thank you for all your help.

Hello,

1. You can use any salt with Component 1+2+3+
2. In the guide and in the videos you can check list of products to make your own Component 1+2+3+: https://aquaforest.eu/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/AF_Products-Guide_EN_WEB_02.01.19.pdf
3. Water change. Answer is in GUIDE: https://aquaforest.eu/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/AF_Products-Guide_EN_WEB_02.01.19.pdf
We recommend that water changes are carried out every 7 days in amount of approximately 5%–10% of water volume.

4. I noticed many people having issues with one component being out of wack and not being able to resolve it. Is this a common issue?
Can you please clarify your question? Component 1+2+3+ should be dosing equaly. Answer is at the product description: https://aquaforest.eu/en/product/component-1-2-3/
If one or two parameters are still not balanced- we recommend to continue with administering equal doses of each component, and take advantage of one of our additives (Calcium, Magnesium, KH Buffer) to restore desired level(s).

5. What does Aquaforest suggest in the sump? Fuge? Bio? Carbon? No Carbon? Gfo?

Thank you for all your help.

Hey there! Jeff from CoralVue here. We are the North American distribution partner for Aquaforest. We are sorry you've had difficulty sourcing some AF products but we're working together to change that. Of all the great brands we work with, AF is the I see the most growth potential for here in the US. They have a huge catalog, produce products under laboratory conditions, hire great people, have strong branding, and are a pioneer in sustainability in our industry. In short, I am a fan. We'll get to the root causes and resolve them so we can supply you with a steady stream of AF. Please mail me at [email protected] so I can follow up with you.
