New tank, with sump 110 gallons. Since I'm starting from scratch I'm entertaining using Aquaforest, however the videos online are not much help, and when I ask other Aquaforest users questions they don't seem to have answers which worries me. This tells me the system is so complicated they can't even give answers or to time consuming to give proper advice.
My first question is are the Components 1, 2,3 made to be in conjunction with Aquaforest's salt? Or can I use any salt? These jugs are huge and will not fit under my stand. Going off Aquaforest's website I'll be dosing roughly 250mL a day. That would mean filling my liter bottles every four days. Am I overestimating the real estate this product uses in a stand?
Which brings me to cost. 56.99 for the three components. That's 5000mL for dosing. At 250mL a day that is less than a month's worth. Every month another 56.99. So about a grand a year. I realize there are a mix your own which brings me to my next question.
Not readily available in the US. I found the products but many times they appear sold out, or not in stock which would be very problematic. The mix your own system included. Also, many of the other products I noticed in the video have no US outlets. Is there a place I am missing?
Water changes. How often are they needed and how bad does a water change upset the balling method?
I noticed many people having issues with one component being out of wack and not being able to resolve it. Is this a common issue?
What does Aquaforest suggest in the sump? Fuge? Bio? Carbon? No Carbon? Gfo?
Does Aquaforest work with carbon sources like NoPox or Reef Fuel, or do they have their own product?
My goals for this tank is easy easy easy. Mixed reef, a few fish. I recently, thanks to covid, had to change jobs where I will be gone for weeks at a time, so I need a system that can run with little issue and easy enough that someone else can look after it with some training.
Thank you for all your help.
