I was reading about sexing Chelmon rostratus a while back and if I remember correctly it said something about the lump on their snout. Does anyone know any more about this or more in depth?
Here’s some older photos of mine if it helps anyone.

I think sometimes the snout is coarser, I'm not sure and I don't remember where I read this but it seems that a male fish is more robust in its details.

I’ve also read about the more square shape but it’s strange on how all CBBs can look more squarish.

I guess it's a matter of perspective, are you trying to find a partner?
At the minute no but I did figure if I wanted to find it one in the future then gender would be a big factor.

That would be legit to see a pair of cbb's. LFS had a display with a pair of longnose butterflies for over a decade. Iirc they never spawned, but would exhibit mating behavior.

It’s my dream to have a pair of CBBs, my issue is tank size would be hell to get right. What would you think the best tank size for a pair would be?

I'm weird, but Id try a 4ft 120g with light stocking, prolly 6ft 180g would be best. Iirc LFS had them in a 125g before it was broke down and replaced with a waterbox display.

Interesting, I think I’ll wait till I have a lower stock (Either crash or some other reason) and then will definitely consider a Pairing.
For spawning? 300+gal
I’d rather have it for the joy of just seeing how they’d behave together, not really any spawning reasons.
