So, I am thinking of getting 4 of these for my 5 gallon nano office tank. (yes, it is at the office now). I thought we had someone in the club who did a primer on them or who was an "expert."

if so, What do I need to know? Since its an office tank, I really cant bring frozen up here. I would like to be able to feed them pellets every day or every other day. if I am out for a week, I would need my assistant to be able to feed them too.

how easy are they to care for and how hardy?

I had 5 in my 7.5g cube and they did very well until stupid kicked in and I killed them. They really took care of themselves for the most part. They don't need a lot to eat. I only fed once every two or three days, when I fed daily, they didn't eat it. I did feed frozen, but I've read where pellets work fine.

Ive read that they will consume zoas if they arent well fed. the tank is going to be 99% zoas. more so if the two leathers I have in there dont come back.

They will eat flakes like Prime Reef Flakes. They are very easy to care for, except they are vulnerable to quick changes in salinity. Topping off consistently would be important.

Get an ato and feed them some small pellets and they will be fine I have 3 in my nuvo 8 that is about 6g of actual water. Had them since my tank finished cycling.

They do love them some Zoa's! Speaking from experience :) I've got 2 and am forever chasing them off what little Zoas I have :( But I love these lil guys so I put up with it.

thanks, thats kinda what I was hoping to hear. I will keep some water at the office and my refracto. plan to put a cup of water in it daily as it evaporates.

It might be a good idea to invest in like a tunze nano ato or some other one. Especially since you may not be in the office every day. With such small water volume the salinity can vary greatly quickly. Shrimp are sensitive to that and at about 9 bucks a pop for the shrimp it would suck to loose them in my opinion. I do have a tight budget though lol. And you're very welcome. ^-^

I saw them for $15 plus shipping. I may make an ATO for it. I have a spare float switch at the house that I havent hooked to my main system yet, and a spare aqualifter. really dont want it to get complicated, and I am not wanting to put much money into this setup. all I need to do is get to radio shack and buy a relay I guess.

That works :) but if you do want to get one the tunze nano is like $100 and is plug and play all you need is a water reservoir.

$10 plus shipping just sign up for alert they come in often enough ^-^ ( but still I wouldn't want to have to replace them at this price let alone a higher one)

ssssooo... been reading alot about them and it seems if they are not WELL fed, they will devour zoanthids. since this is going to be a ZOANTHID garden, with some high end zoas (I already ahve some utter chaos in there) I think I may just have to pass and find an alternative. Maybe just a big ole Coral banded shrimp.

I woudl hate to get them, then have to remove them because of this. they would end up being expensive meals for my Melanarus.

Yeah that would suck... you could get a cleaner shrimp or a pistol/snapping shrimp or little camel shrimp. All shrimp are sensitive to salinity so an ato still would be recommended.

Just make sure you have a tight lid lol don't want fish jerky. The divers den get pre paired goby/shrimp combos. I like liveaquaria.
