It's been a while since I posted an update.

Here are some iPhone shots from today. The tank is growing well - no major complaints.

Equipment changes.

In the last 4 or 5 months I went from the 2 x Tunze 6095s to a single Icecap 3k Gyre to 2 x Gyre 230s. I like the flow of the gyres and I have them creating a standing wave.

I redid my manifold. I went from this

Added the Neptune flow monitoring kit and the new Neptune automatic top off kit. I need some parts for my osmolator and I can't resist new toys.
The old manifold was my first time plumbing and I made some mistakes I corrected.

I am also running the ZEOvit system. I was using vinegar to keep my nitrates low but the colors of my corals were faded. Zeovit definitely fixed that. I am growing tired of it because of the daily tasks involved. I can say that it works but it involves more than what I'm willing to do.

I tried lessening the daily tasks by using their tablet form of supplements but it doesn't seem to work as well as the liquid supplements. I promised myself that I would give Zeovit a year but I'm rethinking that promise.

• 2 chromis - started with 5.
• Female lyretail anthias
• Naso tang about 4 inches - will need a new home soon
• Yellow tang about 4 inches.
• Hippos Tang about 4 inches - will need a new home soon

I'm all for re-homing fish but once I do this batch I'll probably go with fish that can stay for at least 2 years. That's when I expect to move to a bigger place plus the corals are getting bigger and it's going to be a pain to catch them.

I've made a lot of changes to the tank since I last posted here.

I upgraded my skimmer from the Skimz to the Vertex Omega 180i. I needed more air draw since I need to pull air from outside to keep a decent PH.
I also added a Pax Bellum Reactor - It's the smallest version and its working well so far.

I also took the ZEOvit system off and started the full Triton Method. I'm dosing straight from the bottles.

It's been 2 months now and everything is going great.

I've had a few hiccups but not related to the Triton.

I was running one of the UFO grow lights that worked well but there was so much light spillage. I'm going to switch to the Kessil H380. It will come it handy as I'm going to get a new sump with a larger refugium or a larger tank.

Yes I definitely did. In the past when using algea reactors. Growth would be great for a while before it would slow down and stop. I suspect it was because something was used up in the water - I didn't know what. After doing some large water changes the cheato would grow again. With Triton this doesn't happen.

I have noticed huge results from changes I've made to my chaeto fuge.
First bought a powerful LED grow light.
Increased the size and surface area To 30 gallons.
Doubled flow through the chaeto. This by far has had the biggest impact on the growth rate. I harvest every 2 weeks and each one fills a 5 gallon bucket!

No longer need GFO at all and I've had to increase my PNO3 dosing to maintain ~5ppm.

I would like to try the Kessil H380 and compare to my current light.

This really allows me to feed heavily without polluted water and low overall nutrients.

My son has an Innovative Marine 14 gallon nano that I'm also running Triton on. Because it requires low dosing levels I dilute the Triton solution with RODI water. I notice that the Coralbox doser is not accurate under 2ml.

Flow in the nano is provided by a @Vivid Creative Aquatics random flow generator - This tank is filtered by some floss and a cheato reactor made from a small two little fishes reactor. I added a small 100gph pump to push water through it. No water changes now in 3 months. My last Triton test showed that my P & P04 were lower than what Triton recommended. I reduced the lighting from 12 to 9 hours at night.

I also included a top down shot of the nano I took this morning.

Stocking in the nano is two small clownfish. Two wheelers shrimp gobies and two pistol shrimps.
