Just picked up a 6in snowflake eel going to house in my 40g breeder ( will upgrade when time comes ) how long should I expect before he eats? Warmed up in the tank very nicely venturing out while lights are dimming and going down now as I type this out

no telling. Could be a couples days or weeks. Put a chunk of krill on a skewer and try feeding once per day until he starts. Put it right in front of his nose since they don’t see well.
I chopped up a smaller piece of shrimp and put it on a skewer and held it there for awhile in front of him but he wasn’t interested

While eels can be difficult to feed at 1st I don't play around. I will entice my predators with a live feeding immediately, ghost shrimp are a good choice for a sfe. Sfe quickly accept feedings of dead food and it usually only takes a couple of offerings of live ghost shrimp to get them to start taking appropriate dead foods. Appropriate sized chunks/strips of seafood like shrimp, squid, octopus, clams, mussels, etc. Cut into pieces that are not too large.

Ill give the live feeding a go
