Help me Choose Sfiligoi Genesis T5 Hybrid!

Hello, I am new on this forum and I needed some help on choosing what fixture I should go with. I have decided Sfiligoi Genesis T5 but I am not sure what features I should go with. First, I am not sure if I should go with 4 T5's and 5 LED bars or 8 T5's and 3 LED bars. Second, I dont know if I should get dimmable T5s or not. Third, I dont know if I should get more RGB LEDs or white. Please let me know what option you think will be best and why.
Thank you.

There is another user here (username RedStag) who just got a Genesis from Tim at Aquatics Elite. You will not regret the decision. You may want to send him a pm and ask why he went with the one he got. He may be able to help you. Tim is also a world of help too. While I have not owned the Genesis, I have owned a Stealth and currently have an XR6. They are incredible fixtures. If the LED's are going to be dimmable, I would go ahead and get the dimmable T5's as well. I don't run LED's so I can't speak much to what types of LED's you should get. It all depends on what color spectrum you are looking to get (10K, 145K, 20K)?

Look for his thread here. i ask him lots of question s and he answears them pretty good.. Great info from the user.

Which would you go with if you had to choose 1?

I've looked at this fixture and am still torn. Here's what I would do and why (this is assuming an sps dominant tank with some lps/softs)

I would go with a 8 T5, 3 LED light with 2W/1B LED stick or a 4 t5, 5 LED 3W/2B

In my opinion, nothing beats the current gen t5s in terms of pure color. the rbg is nice but I think you can get more pure color by going with a blue+ and purple plus+ for your sunrise/sunset. Then have your next bank of t5s fire up (i think there are 3 cords with the 8 t5s). Then fire your LEDs up for a midday blast...or ramp them up slowly over the day. If you've got the money, I'd go with the 5 LED option....more punch in terms of par and nice glitter lines with the 4 T5s primarily there for getting the color you want. I think in time, LEDs will be able to cover the spectrum better with lights like the Maxspect doing that already. However, none look as nice as the Sfilgoi (IMO).

Hope that helps and please remember this is just my opinion. Tim is a great guy to deal with and would be a great resource.

Given the fact that I've tried MH, T5's, and LED's, I would recommend the following...

1. Rely more on the T5's then the LED's as your main light source. For this reason I would go with 8 x T5's and 3 x LED's
2. For LED's, I would go with 1 x RGB and 2 x B/RB/W. 2 blues for every one white.
3. I would skip the dimmiable T5's option. It's a way over priced add-on and don't think it'll be that useful, especially when you can control the LED's and use them for your dawn/dusk effect.

The only downside I see to the recommendation above would be the lack of shimmer. If Tim feels that a 2 x white and 1 x blue LED combo would give sufficient shimmer, then I would go that rout a simply add blueish T5 bulbs. Make sure you can control all three LED's independently so that you can use the Blue Led's for moonlights.

Oh, and definitely don't forget to give it a custom paint job :)

I would go T5 dimmable for sure. Yeah, it costs more. But if you can afford it, can provide a lot more options and variability in lighting your tank. 8 T5s, and 2:1 blue:white leds is the way to go imo. Enjoy.
