Sfin's Dream.

I’m about to add more sand I think. It’s an older bag of live sand, (like 6 months old). Any advice? I’m pretty sure I don’t want to just dump it in, but what’s the best way to wash it out without ending up with a bunch of sand going down the drain?

What type of sand

(Also, glad to hear the pistol shrimp was found!! Does it have a name yet?)
No it does not. I found it during tank transfer and it was on the other side of the tank. It took them all of three weeks to find each other. 60 lbs of sand and 75lbs of rock.

Use a 5 gallon bucket to rinse it in. Just keep rinsing until the water is clear.
That would work but wouldn't that get rid of the beneficial bacteria. If you aren't concerned about that than that's a heck of an idea

Also make sure it doesn't smell.
Tap water is fine?

I mean I’m sure my existing bacteria will just repopulate it

Only other filtration I have is a HOB for the fw tank, but it’s being used lol
Well sponge filter will get very dirty my way. @Fudsey would be better. Im not sure if the sand would absorb anything. At the least hit the tank with prime before adding it if using tap

sand was a success! I untimely just went with your original plan @sfin52. I got to thinking about the bacteria situation, and decided that since I had just finished Fluconazole that it was probably not a bad idea to add some fresh bacteria.

poured off as much liquid as I could and then dumped it in ;Hilarious

water was really cloudy but not for long, I just kept cleaning my sponge filter. Cleared up in a couple of hours. @Why-Me I know you will appreciate this too :)

I hardly do any shopping online but today the lfs fishman pushed me over the edge. I was frustrated as all get out.
I stopped in for dr. Tims water away and refresh. I found a rbta for 39. I asked them to about it out. The price was marked 39.99. They rang it up for 50 something. I complained. They said the manger said it was an extra large so it was more. Again I stated it's marked. They refused and told me they update the pricess every two weeks. I told them to put it back and update the signs. I put all the goods back and walked out of the store. I won't be going back.
I also opened up the frig where oyster feast and the phyto is kept. The employees are using that fridge to keep food and some of the employees food was moldy. Gross. Fishman has gone down hill.
Fb and Google reviews where changed.
I went to chewy.com.
