Water change last night and cleaned the skimmer my goodness that thing was nasty.
One of my least favorite reef chores.

NO, my OCD won’t allow that. I have to clean the whole cup out.
The cup was being clogged by sludge. I pulled the whole skimmer and gave it a good cleaning. Good grief the sponges and little critters.

Had a first Saturday, I was helping tare down a 240 for a deep cleaning and a complete reset. I was removing a rock and a monster bristle worm tagged me.
I forgot he had bristle worms. My tank is void of bristle worms. My coral banded shrimp makes short work of them.

those sting. I recently had that first too so its fresh in my mind.

mine are still small in my evo but they are A LOT and they have no fear. They just come out during the day and I feel like they have the attitude "come at me bro". As time goes on I get more and more nervous about sticking my hand in there.

Coral banded eats them.

Coral banded eats them.
The problem with coral banded is that they will only eat part of them. Release the part they aren't eating which will just regrow. Aero crabs have the ability to dig these worms out of their holes, and will carry them around munching until there's none left.

Didn't know that. You make it sound like a blood bath... I like it.

I call mine the sump monster, specifically purchased to do this job.

I've seen it carrying around two bristleworms at a time and they just get smaller and smaller. It's great.

I am adding it the the shopping list. What is the downside? There is always a downside.

Big Wrasses will want to eat them, and they look like a HUGE spider in the tank. Freaks some people out.
Won't they go after smaller fish once they get bigger?

yep; I think I had a salinity issue during a vacation that finished him off. I prefer the School of mild knocks.
