Sfin's Dream.

Lol Make a tank that looks like. I've had freshwater and fish only saltwater tanks. I've only been reefing about 6 months. I'm proud of my tank, don't get me wrong. But I'm prepping myself for a big mixed reef like that. I just figured I'd start out slow and work my way up
That's what I did. Tank has been up for almost 10yrs. Oct will make it 10ys

Wow. In 6 months I've run into 100 things that could make someone quit. I tip my cap for sure. It’s just so incredible to have a piece of that world in your living room. Man this $30 starfish has given me a million dollars worth of laughs.

There's been times I thought about tossing in the towel. Deep breath and walked away from the tank and gave it a few days. I love reefing and really enjoy the people I meet

Man I was in a tight pickle today.

I am hoping those were hornets? Cute hasmat suit I have one very similar.;)
Yellow jackets and they get the nuclear option. Bees are gentle souls who would have had a bee keeper called to give them tlc.

First time in 19 yrs I wore it. Just couldn't risk cracking that nest and them all coming to my face. Thankfully what happened is they all left to the exterior just what I planned. I few came back at me. The rest hit the floor dead as I removed the nest.

10 years my tank has been up. A decade seems like a long time but it's blink.

The memories.
*I remember falling asleep with my daughter (10 years old) watching the tank.
*The exciting adventure finding a new lfs and learning about all the different corals and fish
*My kids all excited about the tank and curious about all the inhabitants.
*Taking my kids to the lfs so they could pick things out.
*The tough and rough days and just loosing myself in the tank.

The set backs
*Ich ouch that sucked
*hair algea and bubble algea out the wazoo

*dinos and about 90% of the coral died. Yep that hurt.
*The night we had the water shut off because I grabbed the wrong pipe for the rodi. I was hard plumbing it to the main water line. It is 3/4 inch and i grabbed 1/2 tee.
*waking up to water running because I forgot to shut off the rodi. Done it many times since.

The positives
*it's a place for me to unwind and just not to think about the world and events
*All the people.

The reefing community can be a family!

I've had so much help i could never have done by myself.
R2R sure is a great bunch, especially the Midwest Reefers! I've had a lot of help myself and look forward to much more as I actually finally (hopefully) get my main system up and going in the next few months.

I've enjoyed watching your progress and really like the look of your current system.

Thanks. Always a work in progress. It's taken a group to get the tank to this stage.

There's always something new to learn
