New to this forum, though I've been lurking for a while (some may know me as pmemmer over on nano-reef). Anyway, been in the hobby for about 11 years, and just started up a new tank after a four-year break due to work, kids, etc.
Tank: JBJ NRL-15
Lights: Nanobox Mini-Tide
Flow: Hygger Mini Wavemaker
Filtration: built-in, augmented with inTank insert
Fish: Blennedict Arnold, aka Ned, the tail-spot blenny
Coral: Zoas, torch, montipora, pavona, favia, acan echinata, ricordea, alveopora, leptastrea, and platygyra frags
Started with 15 pounds of Gulf live rock... and it's been an experience. This is my fifth tank, and I've used Gulf live rock for all of my previous tanks... but I've never had a batch that was so pest-ridden. Mantises, aiptasia, majanos. I have a batch of F-Aiptasia on the way that will hopefully do the work that Joe's Juice didn't. If that doesn't work, it's berghia time. But there's been good along with the bad... the rocks also came with the best accidental clean-up crew I've ever had (several snails, and an urchin), some great sponges and other filter feeders, and halimeda that survived the soft cycle and really makes the tank look great.
One new thing I'm trying with this tank is two suspended rocks, near the top of the tank, attached to the rear wall with waterproof aquarium magnets. Not entirely sure this is a completely final aquascape, but I like it for now. One of the larger rocks along the back wall may need to move to give the front half of the tank a little more height. We'll see.
