Closing in on a pretty successful year with my 20G and (of course) am considering a new build. I don’t have room to do much more than a 10G, and would like to focus on RFAs with some sexy shrimp, porcelain crab and two fish tops.

I’ve become pretty enamored with the idea of a shallow lagoon style, specifically in a UNS 60S (24"x14"x7”). Trying to keep relatively low maintenance. Thin sandbed. Equipment would be a Seachem Tidal HOB filter, thinking Kessil A80 Tuna Blue (probably 2), not sure about a wave maker but a little Tunze or Korelia seems like it would be plenty. Evaporation might be biggest problem, but I can custom die cut an acrylic lid. Anything else I ought to consider with this style? Or is this crazy and I should just find a proven 10G AIO?

Dooooo it. My favorite tank has been my 12g shallow tank. 16 x 16 x 9 I think. It was a custom AIO. I doubt you will find a shallow AIO nowadays. Top down on a shallow cube is amazing.
