Hi All,

We've just started to cycle our new 13 gallon fluval EVA. We're using Dr. Tim's One and Only and hoping for a shorter cycle.

Would love to see your reefs as we begin planning livestock!

Any modifications to the stock system? Any advice? Thank you for sharing.

This is a fairly new tank for me. Pair of Lightening Clowns (they will get too big for this tank). Fire Shrimp, excellent invert. IM 20 gallon, 1 month in.

I upgraded return pump to a Sicce 1.0 and get much more flow. Also threw out bio balls and added Marine Pure, another winner. I really like the tanks and they can be improved with a little tweaking. Would use the Aquaticlife 115 instead of Fluval product if you're thinking about adding a protein skimmer.

Good luck

Thank you. What did you do about the feeding hole next to the light? Worried a goby could jump

Mods? Yep
I have 2 Hydor nano wavemaker, a put in a different media basket in sump chamber 2, had a nano skimmer in chamber one but didn't do much. Now I have a DIY Algae reactor working out of that.
Biggest upgrade is the AI Hd light. Finally getting the settings to the corals liking.

I bought a piece of "plastic canvas" for $.99 from Hobby Lobby and cut it to tuck into the hole and so no jumpers. Only other mod I've done is to put small pieces of PVC pipe under light to provide more air circulation and knock a few degrees off tank temp when ambient temp is high.

Mikedawg, does that skimmer by Aquaticlife fit in first chamber?

My Reef corner!
Starting a 75 gallon FOWLR tank next week.

They measure the same: 3" x 3" and both are 10" tall I believe, so should fit. They look exactly alike except for a different collection cup. I have a 115 in my Biocube 32 and will see if it fits in my Evo tomorrow and will post results. I have read on this forum that the 115 will fit btw.

The algae reactor sits outside the tank - not in a chamber right? Fascinating!

Thanks for the info on the skimmer. I'll do some more research on it.
Yes, my DIY Algae reactor is outside. It's
sitting next to the Pico tank.

As promised: yes, the Aquatic Life 115 fits in first chamber of Fluval Evo. It certainly looks like same skimmer as the PS 2, from design of housing to the motor. Only difference I see is that the Aquatic Life has a sleeker collection cup and a better method for controlling air intake.

Just cut off the plastic suction cup tabs so it slips right in and extend the airline tubing (via YouTube) a little to make it quieter.

Thanks!

20 gal been up and running since January '17...all kinds of corals in my baby.

Zoas. Mushrooms. Acans. Rock flowers. Birds nests. 3 different damsels. 1 6 line wrasse. Hermits. Snails. A very active conch. Sand sifting starfish.

AI Prime HD light
2 Aquaclear HOB filters
MP-10 wavemaker

I am planning on upgrading to the Red Reefer Nano tank after I move and are settled in a couple months.

But this tank has been a great learning tool!

I got my RO and Salt water from my LFS...have also gotten everything else from there.

Biggest thing I worry about is just refreshing the RO water as it evaporates lol

And of course feeding the tank crew!
