Planning on getting a shark when I get my new tank next year. Probably banded cat shark. Tank will be 700-800 actual gallons.

I hear you can't keep angels and triggers with them? If that's the case I probably won't get one. Myth or true?

How often do they feed and is it best to feed with tongs?

Can you keep smaller fish species with them? Like clowns, as long as you kept them fed?

Any suggestions or experiences will be appreciated.

Triggers can definitely cause damage to sharks and bigger angels can harass them, any smaller fish species will likely become food. IMHO it's best to keep sharks and rays separate from other fish for all parties involved. They are considered expert care level and no place will guarantee them for shipping, so any additional complications aren't needed with them IMHO.

Personally what I would do is create a shark pond and go a bit smaller (ie Coral Catshark, Australian Marbled) as they don't need quite as much space:

Thanks for the feedback

It looks like the banded (if it's A. fasciatus) is the smallest in the genus.

I've also read about angels and triggers picking at sharks, but I don't have experience here. I do see them housed together in public aquaria though.

Not sure of whom to tag here to get you some info.... #reefsquad
