just wondering if I should cut off this shaving brush plant at the substrate level?
Or do the young brushes need the adult for continued growth?
It is laying down most of the time now. Phos is at 0.20, Also cheato doesn't seem to grow.

I wonder if the saltwater plants require the same care as the freshwater ones?
such as nitrate, phosphate, iron, C02... Also, could you dose the freshwater fertilizers into the the reef and get the same results?
Because it kind of looks like all your macro algae is dying off.

Yes. If you want to grow green plants, they need regular green plant nutrients.

@powertodareefle if you're doing anything to reduce nutrient levels in the tank, stop now.

If your NO3 levels are low or near-zero I'd consider dosing some stump remover or other NO3 fertilizer. Get levels up to ≥ 5-10 ppm.

PO4 levels appear to be good.

How old is this tank and how long have the plants been in there?

This 70g tank is only six months old, The plants have been in there for about three months.
I bought three, this is the last one. other than it's off shoots.
NO3 was at 1ppm for a long time. I started dosing stump remover two weeks ago trying to keep it at 5ppm.
I'm still running my skimmer.
Started running a GFO reactor two weeks ago. In an attempt to bring down phos.
Phos. was .45 now two weeks later .20

Thats why your macro algae is dying.
Because the gfo is pulling out all the nutrients that the plants need.
