Shimming tank

Hey everyone. So I levelled (I thought) my 40g tank. Filled it with water and now I have noticed it’s not as level as I’d like. Can I pull half the water out and shim it?

Assuming you aren’t shimming to a crazy extent. You should be able to do it when full. Taking our water will make it easier for sure but it may settle when you add the water back

Yep, shimmed tanks much larger than 40G full. Part of the process, when water is added they settle. Have to reshim to level

Yes you can shim the stand when full, 40 gallons are pretty small, use composite shims

I like using Toilet Shims, they are Plastic so won’t rot. Can either be cut flush with a razor knife or some snapped off. Available at any Big Box Hardware.
