Shimp and arrow crab disappear ....

Shimp and arrow crab disappear .... within the course of a week or two all my shrimp and my arror crab disappeared... about 12 peppermint, a cleaner and my arrow crab. all my other ibverts, fish, coral ect are fine... thoughts?

How big is the tank? What fish do you have? Is the tank securely covered? Have you check the overflow? There's a lot of variables here.

I'll 2nd that you should list all the tank inhabitants. Also get a not too powerful flashlight with a red lens or gel cover and about an hour after lights out start having regular looks through the tank to see if there's a predator that snuck it's way into your system.

You don't happen to hear the occasional click or pop coming from in the tank?

no it s not a pistol or mantis shrimp. The tank is a rimless 60 gallon... everything was fine and they all just vanished... and the cleaner shrimp was huge

Knowing the list of inhabitants will be a lot more helpful than knowing the tank size.

99.9% chance they were eaten, 0.1% chance they actually 'vanished'. Unless they recently watched Finding Nemo and got some ideas.

The real question is did they die and get eaten or were they preyed on by something.

I would suspect either prey or jumped as well. I thought I lost a pair of cleaner shrimps one time but they were in the rear sump of my max e260 (for 2 months!). Didnt realize they were there until I had to work on a return pump and felt them hit my hand. Scared me half to death but I was glad to find them and get them back in the display.
