I just sold a large piece of Monticap which is growing off a golfball + sized rock. I need some advice on how best to ship it to avoid unintentional "fragging".
I've got a 24" square styrofoam box figuring that the bigger the better. I planned on triple bagging it in large bags that hold plenty of water, I'm figuring the coral isn't gonna slosh around 'cause of the weight of the rock plus I'm gonna surround the outside of the bag with plenty of packing peanuts.
Is it a good idea to maybe put a bunch of peanuts inside the bag with the water just in case the coral will move around inside the bag ??
Should I limit how much air is in the bag to avoid coral movement inside the bag ??
Should I fasten a piece of foam to the bottom of the rock and allow the coral to float upside down - figuring its gonna move no matter what so the water itself will act as a "soft" barrier keeping the coral in one piece ??
The weather in my neck of the woods is going to be in the upper 60's when I ship and one the receiving end its gonna be low 80s....is a heat or ice pak necessary ?? I think not....
Thanks for any comments!
