Hi everyone. I placed an order from liveaquaria.com, I have bought from them a few times before an I always get the shipment on Tuesdays at 10:30 but for some reason they came at 8:30 today while I was at the gas station down the street getting coffee. Now they are holding it for pick up at the warehouse but the driver wont be there for another hour.

Im afraid the water temp will be quite lower than the temp in my QT.

How can I safely increase the temp in the shipping bags before putting the fishes in the QT?

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Float the bags in the QT water. The outside water will slowly bring up the temp of the water in the bag.

make sure you float the bags in your water for about 15-30minutes depending on temp of the coral in the water.

then after that you can dip and put straight into your QT. no worries about it being 1hour to afew hours late. Depending how cold it is near you.

I would just float it. Or if it is much colder u can pour your order in to a bowl and and a little tank water every 10 mins

It is pretty cold, not freezing but pretty close. And there are no corals this time, it a blonde naso tang and a two spot goby.

Are fish more sensitive to temp changes than corals?

Even if the temp difference is like 10 degrees or more?

Yes. The tank water can't heat the bag water very fast at all. You'd definitely shock your critters if you dumped them with a 10deg difference, but the bag water will heat up very slowly when floating.

Just float them for a bit and then do your typical acclimation. I've had fish show up late the night of delivery and be fine. The packaging/heat packs do a good job in the liveaquaria boxes. Even on orders that came the following day after delivery I've had toasty warm boxes and corals that are just fine.

Thanks, it's really good to hear from someone else who has had this problem and everything turned out ok.
