Shipping from US to UK..... in a suitcase

So, my brother is in Cali at the moment on his honeymoon, and I was going to ask him to bring me something special back from Jason Fox or WWC. Just a simple small acro frag which he could fit in his suitcase.

However, is it classed a s live animal? Would he have to declare anything or get any special certification etc?

Or is it a case of get it delivered the day before he leaves and just hope for the best?

That's something you will want to ask your country's Customs department about, just so that you're able to perfectly understand the rules and regulations from the people actually enforcing them.

I think he has to declare it as live animal or plant. Also, there are certain species which are banned in europe. I will suggest like Nautical said ask for a clear guideline from customs.

You have probably thought about it already, but checked baggage is exposed to very low temps. Make sure you have it in a cooler with a heat source.

This. I believe that you would need a CITES permit to export to the UK.

Would they let you board the plane with that much liquid in your luggage? They usually make you toss your bottle of water before going through security!

You will NOT be allowed to bring any corals dead or alive into the U.K. unless you hold a coral business import license. They are easy enough to apply for but you will be required to have a registered business. Please don’t waste your money. I have access to many incredible corals and fishes here in China but I cannot bring them home to Newcastle Upon Tyne.
