has anyone done this? Since I'm living in Canada and no Canadian websites carry any waterbox tanks... :c
BUT... waterbox sells it and when I was ABOUT to buy it, it was calculating the taxes, duties and shipping which totalled a whopping $2400!!!
So, I thought it was the Covid-19 issue and there are not many people working so I decided to hold off till May. I was curious so I found a calculator: https://app.borderbuddy.com/calcula...DuQsbyUoD1CGilIdpAvlUtE4b-NsfG0hoCpGgQAvD_BwE

And i entered the values and found it was around $1300... Has anyone encountered this before??

You guys in canada always get shafted with duties and extra fees. I once mailed myself some stuff to a friends house in BC i was staying at to avoid having to fly with it and was shocked when the post man asked me for $50 in additional fees when he delivered it. o_O

Back to the topic at hand though, can you just drive over the border to Buffalo or Detroit and pick it up yourself and drive it back? might save you a few grand

I would love to get a reef savvy tank built and shipped but it would be a killer . I have not found a good tank builder in Canada every tank I have seen built by guys here I would not pay for I would be way to picky .

Ok well my other option is red sea reefers (from aquariumdepot.ca) but some other guys here did not recommend it and thought the waterbox was a much better alternative
I took a close look at them and yes waterbox is way better... because it has a better cabinet design...

I could, I live in Toronto BUT, I wouldn't think the tank would fit in the car tho... :/
Plus I still would get charged with border tax (just less) so there's not a big difference.

:( I'll wait till May and see

late to post but when i tried pricing something out on waterbox to see what duty would be to ship to canada, there is no duty listed. does anyone know if they've started lumping that into their price? Don't want to be surprised after I order!
