OK idk where to post but figured I would ask here. I sold two lights and light rail,I was suppose to ship all at once but I was at work and had brother ship the stuff out and he forgot to send out one light. I ended up shipping the other light out. Buyer received first package with a light and rail and I gave him tracking number to 2nd package. The 2nd light was shipped to his door according to usps and shows on shipping details but he said he never got the light and that someone must of stole the light. He's asking for half the money back and I want to hear your feedback. I had called him and told him i forgot to send a light out and that i would ship out asap he was fine with it.When I have a package coming I'm usually at home waiting and always checking the door to see if it was there. I feel like even though it was my fault that both packages weren't shipped at once but I corrected it and shipped the other light off and showed that it was delivered to his door. I feel like if it's showing they dropped off to him and was delivered I shouldn't have to pay for what happend.

Correct, if you have evidence that you shipped and it arrived at his door you are good.
He needs to contact the shipping company to file a complain and they will put in a investigation process.
The package once delivered is the responsibility from the receiver.
Around the holidays it's always bad to have boxes delivered and left at the front door.
Some ppl make it their daily job and they follow the delivery truck on a distance and take pics from stuff by the door.
Just to return 30 min later and if still there they assume nobody is home yet and from them free to take.
Sorry that this happen to you and your buyer.

As in a case that happened to me, it was delivered to a different neighbors house and another time he left package at my rear door. Request confirmation of delivery from your post office and furnish it to paypal

He will not be able to file a claim if you insured it. shipper can only file the claim. best bet is tell him you are filing a claim file it . keep him in the loop .if the approve give money back to him if they don't that's for both of you to decide. he he's being a jerk tell hime to pound sand if he's cool and isn't I'd gladly split it with him. but that's me.

Sounds like you set up a transaction in which he was expecting the 1st package containing two lights, which had an expected delivery date. I think a lot of this falls on if he was contacted and agreed to the 2nd shipping date, or you just preemptively shipped without his consent to make up for the mistake you already committed, which he had no bearing. Whats to say in his mind that you didn't ship a box of nuts and have someone take it off his porch for 50 bucks? I believe a court of law would agree that you were at fault in not meeting the terms of your initial agreement, in lieu of any physical evidence of your 2nd correspondence, but I'm a rocket scientist, not a lawyer.

Well I Def didn't send out 5lb of nuts out to him. I do business like I would anyone to do with me. We talked over the phone over the matter of me forgetting to ship a light out and he was totally fine and said to just ship light out. I called him while at post office and told him i was sending it out and sent him tracking number as soon as I received it

Unfortunately, though. If buyer decides to be a jerk about it, he can file with PayPal and get his money back. And seller would have to hope that the shipping company accepts the responsibility of the lost package.

If I'm not mistaken, PayPal states in their sellers protection to insure the package, send to a verified address, and signature on delivery.
(assuming the transaction took place via PayPal)

Anyway, hope it works out well for you.
When I sell here and the package is over $200, I usually follow PayPal's seller protection policy to ensure that I'm protected.

Not implying anything. Factually, I'm saying that he has a written agreement of the first transaction, and you have anecdotal evidence of the second. As long as he can prove that the shipping weight of what you promised is more than shows on the carrier's timestamp of the first package received; that's fraud. Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I would try to work it out amicably, and get written correspondence.

Well like I stated,I shipped out exactly what I told him I was shipping out. I have a good job,no need for me to be on here scamming people and I'm a honest person and would hate to screw someone over especially a fellow hobbies. He filed a claim with paypal, they checked both tracking numbers and bother showed delivered and they dropped the claim on my side cause it shows it was delivered. I'm calling usps tomorrow to try to settle this out and hoping I can get money back to give back to buyer. I hate for someone to spend money on something and not receive it and especially when it's not their fault. I'm hoping for the best tomorrow and the usps handles this and pays for what was lost

What if the postman delivered to the wrong address? Sucks but I think the only protection is to get signature delivery. I've had this happen to me 3 times even on a 750$ coral pack.... Sellers seem to lose in paypal claim because no proof of delivery.. So you end up refunding and getting a negative review.

I am by no means making a personal judgement on you, I am just stating facts.

Yeah once they saw it showed delivered at door they said they couldn't hold me responsible because I did everything on my end. I told him to talk to his postman and he did, postman told him he dropped it off at his doorstep. I feel bad that it happend, but I did do everything on my part. I sent out all package even if it wasn't at once but I corrected it sent out the other package. But I'm hoping they take responsibility about the package cause the buyer shouldn't lose out on this either because the postal service

Haha if you get the postal service to cover the package I will be amazed. Once they say dropped at door I'm pretty sure it's out of their hands.

You've done your due diligence in the matter, you may feel bad but you dont owe him anything. He paid you to send him two lights, and you did. /thread

also sorry if this was stated, but how did he pay you? was there insurance on the shipment?
