Just thought I'd throw this out there. I have a buddy that is diabetic and gets insulin shipped to him in the mail. I snatch all the insulated boxes from him for shipping coral. They are the perfect size for shipping corals and are about 1" thick and nicely insulated.

So hit up your diabetic friends for shipping styros! haha.

Good idea! You can also get them from uline.com

You can reuse them from old coral shipments you recieve, or go down to your lfs and ask if they have any they are planning on throwing away!

:)

Also, I was just thinking... what industries use styrofoam board? You could ask them for any waste boards and then cut up and place square pieces inside your box to form a box in a box. Use some large pieces of newspaper to line this home made styro box and then add bagged corals/packing material/and temp correction device.
Many people use this method with success.

I just get the boxes from my dad. He is a diabetic. He normally orders like a three month supply so he gets huge boxes. I have asked him to order a month at a time so he can get smaller ones. I mean the HUGE ones would probably fit 10-12 bags in them. It works for me cause he does not care about the price. The Navy pays for it all. Joys of giving then 22 years of your life. They give you money and medical insurance till you die.

You can try the pet stores. They'll give them to you for free.

Unless they have a change of heart and decide to charge you X amount for it.

At home depot and Lowes they sell 8' by 4' sheets of .75" styro for like $9. That is what I use for all of my shipments. I just cut them to size. I made a DIY thread that I posted on NR a while back. I will see if I can get it over here if anyone is interested.
