I am in the process of setting up a 220g tank. Its set on a store bought stand that came with the tank and i have some height constraints due to this.

From the bottom of the 40g sump I have only 26" of height for the skimmer if i run it to the bottom of the main tank support. Most of the skimmers that are sized for my tank size are 24"-25" tall and that gives me no room to adjust the height of the skimmer if necessary to tune it in.

So I am looking for options in a more compact, shall we say, fat skimmer that will do a good job and take up less height. I was looking at the reef octopus regal 250int in 10". My main requirements are Apex integration and DC pump.

Inread through several pages of the skimmer thread but man, that thing is huge. I also searched but didnt find anything specific to height issues or options. So here I am with hat in hand asking for some advice/help.

Are there any good short skimmers out there that have dc pumps and will connect to the Apex Neptune system and are short in stature?

UPDATE

So I did end up oing with the 540DC skimmer. It fit within the height restrictions of my tank stand and allowed me to raise and lower it with no issues while I worked on finding the right height to run it at.

Other than a prolonged break in period the skimmer is up nd running on the tank and doing a great job. I had to call simplicity for some advice during the break in period where it was non stop overflowing the cup. I mean really over flowing, did that for weeks. They suggeted that there was something in the water that was causing it to foam up and that I shoudl collect and dispose of it for a few days to see if that clears it up. So I hooked up a tube from the drain of the cup to a half gallon decanter and let it just go there. After about a gallon and a half of light yellow/tan skimmate it started to calm down. In a few days it is riding deep inthe sump and pulling nice dry skimmate now.

Running full speed and wide open it is doing a great job. Super nice kimmer and fit my needs perfectly. Also, good customer support from Simplicity and that goes a long way in my book.
