I've have a trigger that's been thru 4 weeks of copper that's been removed. Almost 2 weeks ago it looked as if he had fin rot. After some research I ordered the necessary meds to treat. My question is: Is there any harm in using the current water or should I dispose of the water and replace with new saltwater mix? I'm not sure where the bacteria came from LFS or somewhere in my setup.

I would do a water change and run carbon to try and polish most of the water. Clean filters and just try to keep water as clean as possible.

Best to conduct a large water change and run carbon several days prior. What medications are you adding?

I did a massive water change a week ago to get rid of the copper and ran carbon for a day. I then dosed 1 round of Prazipro and getting ready to dose the 2nd. Afterwards I'm going to use Kanaplex + Furan-2 + Metroplex to treat what I think is fin rot. The bottle says to use nitrifying bacteria but I don't have it and hoping I don't need it.

How long has the QT been running for?

Today is day 10 of Furan+Metro. I discontinued Kanaplex after the third dose as the instructions stated. The trigger's behavior has improved as well as appetite. I can see more yellow on his tail than before. It doesn't look completely healed. Tomorrow I'll do a water change and run carbon as I've ran out of Furan. I'm not sure on timeline for when the tail will fully recover.

Very late and hope your fish are all well now. I have a royal gramma who has fin rot and I’m not sure what meds to dose. How did Furan-2+metro+kanaplex work for you?

And if it did heal your trigger, did you dose all the three meds as instructed off each box?
