Last Friday evening I picked up a Yellow Wrasse from the LFS, and put it into it's own QT tank with sand, rock and pvc's along with an Aquaclear 70 HOB filter with filter pads from the main system. Ever since then, I've seen the fish twice, for maybe a total of 30 seconds.

Yesterday, I just happened to be in the room and saw the Wrasse emerge from the sand, and ran downstairs to get some fish food- by the time I got back, it was back in the sand. The fish hasn't eaten this entire time unless there were some pods that hitched hiked there way in the QT with the rock and filter pads.

I'm concerned the fish will starve, since it spends the entire time hiding in the sand. I know that's kind of normal, and I wouldn't be concerned when this happens in the display tank because there are tons of pods to forage for when it comes out of the sand when I'm not around- but the QT won't have any of that.

I've wanted a yellow wrasse for a few years and I finally have a tank big enough to support one. What do ya'll think, should I try to find the fish and put it in the display?

Got pics? It’s possible that the fish internal clock is not adjusted to your day/night cycle. I’ve had fish (wrasse) that didn’t know one to sleep and want to be awake at first. If the fish was recently shipped from across the world, the time zones are completely different. And it does take some time to adjust. But it might also be something different. I’m not sure removing the fish from Quarantine will do any benefit, It’s hard to know exactly what the problem is based on limited info. Sometimes I’ll set up a WebCam so that you can watch the fish when you were not in the room, also the WebCam you can check at night time to see if the fish swimming around

I have a better chance taking a picture of Big Foot that this fish lol. I didn't think about their sleep patterns adjusting. I don't have any lights on the QT, it just receives natural light coming in from the window.
I wonder if I should continue to put some food in the QT in hopes that the fish can scavenge for a bit.
