Tank info:
-40 gallon display tank
-29 gallon custom sump with 3 chambers and a bubble trap)
-Overall flow rate beteen thr sump and display is very high, robably around 500 gph.

My I have a refugium measuring 14" L x 11.75" W x 14" deep.

My concern is that although I get a very strong flow from the overflow/skimmer section across the top of the refugium, the refugium itself might get poor flow in the deeper segments.

I'm wondering if I should add any additional flow to my refugium? I was trying to search for a lower flow pump that can meet my head pressure needs, and I'm even more worried this will be a problem once the overall flow is lower.

Easiest way to handle this is - IMO - to do a baffle with openings both in the bottom and top just before the overflow from the refugium. adjust it that way so 50% goes under and 50 % above tha baffle

Yes helps water flow and keeps it clean must place it in sump to return area otherwise if the water flows too fast through the chaeto, it may not filter effectively thx

I bought a cheap package deal on amazon and put one in QT tank and on in my sump keeps flow in sump and keeps detritus from building up.

Its a closed system - the total contact time over 24 hours is total independent of the flow.

To be clear, the sump is already actively running so that isn't an option

I got a little hydro nano for my fuge for the same reason. I keep it down lowish and it just adds enough flow to keep me happy lol. Moves the Chaetomorpha around a little.

The other question I have for people. Is a powerhead in the fuge going to harm the copepods? I'm wondering if they would potentially get caught up in the impeller?
