Hi guys

I have a red sea 350 which currently houses 1 of each of the following:
1. Purple Tang
2. Blue Tang
3. Powder Blue.

All were added in the sequence above

Question - looking at a yellow tang or naso tang. What do people think ??

Dave

Honest answer is adding a new tang after the others have been in there a while is risky.

I've had more tangs in a smaller tank (210) but they were added at the same time so nobody had a territory yet.

Adding a new one new may be fine, but again, risky.

Cheers. Very peaceful tank at the moment

Purple and yellow may fight as they are both zebs. But the naso shouldn't be an issue for anyone.

If you do ad a yellow, make sure it's close to the same size as the purple.

This way if the purple does try to go after the yellow, at least the yellow will be big enough to hold it's ground.

The biggest issue I have found is larger tangs picking on smaller ones to the point that the smaller ones hide and don't eat.

Acclimating boxes can be helpful but don't always work.

Mirrors are useful with some tangs but not all.

Good luck and let us know which one you choose.

Where I used to live Yellow tangs were exactly the same price as a hipo tang for many years. Now living in another country and yellow tangs are exactly the same price as a gem tang. And they say it was always this way, even before the Hawaii export drama. Very strange, but I'm still ok with having one yellow.

Very expensive here in Ireland... 500 quid for small lil yellow

A Red Sea 350 is 70 gallons and 4 feet long I think?

A naso can’t fit in that. It’s common sense, they get to a foot long or more.

I’d be happy you were able to over stick your tank as it is and not upset that.
