You're going to put a lot of money into your tank let alone your home. It's a drop in the bucket but you'll have the piece of mind knowing that you called someone out, paid a professional, and received a written report from a structural engineer explaining live loads for your floor.

100000% agree with this. We just built our dream tank and it went on a second story, it was worth the few hundred bucks to have a structural engineer come out and write up a formal report/recommendation. FWIW, I think (but not 100% certain) that if something did go wrong and you had to file an insurance claim, they will want a formal report showing it was properly evaluated and recommendations implemented otherwise it may not be covered.
I couldn't agree more. I just put a tank on our first floor above the basement and it was probably overly cautious to have a structural engineer come out to the house to double check the math but like you said, in an event that something does happen, at least you have some documentation that shows you've done your due diligence during the planning phase of your build. I'm not sure if the written report helps with an insurance claim, but it certainly doesn't hurt.
If your tank is within a couple feet of that beam with the X on it you have absolutely nothing to worry about.
Honestly, people on here sound like the guys at the muffler shop "well, you could replace your brake pads yourself, but are you an ascf certified mechanic? What would happen if your brakes didnt work?"
People always want to seem like they are soooo much smarter than everyone else "well what if any grade stamp is on that beam" as if that mattered in the least bit. Its not made of balsa wood so your fine.
Its a fish tank, not the berj khalifa.
