Hi all.
I've started to get this growth of a white'ish jelly type substance over my LR.
It originally started just on the rock i had a algae problem with (dry rock) but is now spreading to the rest of the rock. it has covered most of the surface area of a lot of my rock and has a velvet look to it but a slimy feel to touch.
It doesn't have much definition so getting a good visually descriptive pic is quite hard.......

The rock has a cold? Looks like snot.... I hope somebody else knows what it is! Good luck. I'll tag along to see what the others say.

The bubble could be from dinoflagellates, but those usually have a brownish/reddish color to them.

bubbles are from where my sump ran a bit low and blew bubbles into the dt

My guess is a bacteria of some sort. I started getting slimy deposits in my canister filter that looked not unlike this. Against my better judgement I had been using a water clarifier for a week which helps bind detritus together to make for easier removal via mechanical filtration. I've never seen such slimy bacteria either before or after using the clarifier. Fortunately it had not spread outside my canister and never returned (assuming because I stopped using the clarifier).

So I'm curious if you're using any similar product.

no not at all, i am using aqua forest salt which has a bacteria in it....maybe its a build up of this??

It's something really European IMO............ maybe and this is a guess a sponge?
Do your fish or critters have interest in it?
Can you scape it off and if so what does it feels like?
Maybe a pair of microscopes can help analyze this.
