Have had this BTA from for about three weeks now and he has been doing fine.

Yesterday I noticed some shrinking tentacles.

90 gal tank
Reef Breeders Photon v2+ lights
Salt 1.025
pH 8.2
Mag 1350
Cal 420
Alk 8.4

I do automatic 2 gal water changes daily.

Feed the tank rods food so it does get some of that.

Broadcast reef roids 2x a week.

Can you take a full tank shot? The algae looks extensive in your tank and I'm curious if something on that side of the nem is bothering it.

I'll grab a shot once the lights are on for the day.

I had thought that initially there might be something bothering it but nothing touching it on the side.

If it did not like where it is would it not just move?

How long has the tank been up and running?

Still early so the lights have not ramped up yet.

Can you try to take a clear photo of this area?

I'm blind then, I was looking for a shot a little zoomed out from where the BTA actually is.

My BTA's always have the short tentacles on one side after they have split, never before the split. Since he's so far at the back of the tank, is it possible that a tiny baby is back there too, under a rock? The clones are usually slow to come out into the light in my experience.

Definitely not split but I think it may be splitting. Hard to tell from the picture but on the side with the short tentacles there is a line like it is splitting in half. At least I hoqqpe so and it was not damaged in some way.

Two clowns in the tanks but they stay on the other side of the tank and have never been near the nem.

I did catch a hermit crab trying to crawl into the nem a couple of weeks ago but I moved him and he never went back.

So nothing in the tank that could have caused damage.

Lol. I was talking about clones avoiding the light, not your clowns. A clone is what you have after a BTA splits. Just wanted to clarify that. My clones sometimes won't come out into the open for several days.

Let us know if yours does split. Good luck!
:)

Lol, I understood. I was just talking about what else is in the tank. Nothing that would have harmed the little guy.

This is what it looks like today.

Not much change on that one side from what I can tell. Concerned that it is not splitting but something else is wrong.

I thought they split overnight once they started.
