Should I be removing things?

That coral is growing a bit. Seems kinda floppy. 9306B501-B3FB-41E7-8202-FA004AE75717.jpeg
then there’s some other things. Like what’s to the right of that coral?
I think one hitchhiker is aptasia, then the others I’m not sure about. Might be nothing at all. One almost looks like a white fungus.

Seems to have opened up more when I turned on the light for a min. 19498C6B-F461-4C6E-A043-2E08C17A948E.jpeg
Might be a different one on another rock here

since I’m so new to the hobby, every time I see something I don’t trust myself to identify it. I have a GoPro knockoff I use in the ocean sometimes. It takes good photos and videoes(slightly lower frame rate than GoPro). Can I pan that around in the tank over the rocks and have people look at what’s easily visible and tell me if they see any problems?

Using a GoPro is a great way to get in tight spots and take some pictures. Might be helpful with getting some things ID'd, but picture quality is key. I'm not certain, but it looks like you have some Aiptasia there that you will want to take care of at some point. Bristle worms get mixed reviews; some consider them a pest while others consider them clean up crew. You can get predatory fish to take care of both.

Since my Plan is to only have clowns I the tank maybe I can get something predatory from my LFS on a temporary basis once I’m sure my tank is fully cycled.

Get an arrow crab and then either return it to the LFS for credit or sell it to another reefer. Or look for someone selling theirs. Lots of people pass them around

nice setup and rocks. Looks like you got some good bio growth on those rocks. I really like the encrusting orange.

I personally don’t mind common bristleworms. They don’t seem to bother anything and cleanup leftovers.

You might be right about the aptasia in the crevices. Idk how to get rid of those but there’s a solid Hitchhikers ID guide in the forums.

Thanks. That helps. It has better, more straightforward info than the app I was trying to use.

Will the arrow crab eat the aptasia? Or only the bristleworms?
They won’t eat aptasia. Best aptasia eater is a bergia nidibranch. They only eat aptasia. You can buy one and sell it on to the next person with aptasia or just let it die. Kinda cruel but they’re small and won’t nuke the tank. Or if you have tons of aptasia a single one may be able to survive it’s natural lifespan on your supply. The only live like 6 months total

Benefits of my tank is that there is almost no coral in it. Just a tree coral or two that hitchhiked in. Brand new tank. So far I’ve only spotted 2 aptasia, but on different rocks.

he’s really coming out of the rock now.

Yea I dont know if that’s possible
I’m in a landlocked state. You must be on the coast or something. I’ve never even heard of either of those inverts being that cheap anywhere in my surrounding states

Heck Petco has them for 39.99$ nationwide. No idea who you’re buying off of lol

I boil water on the stove and suck it up in a syringe like 10cc and kill the pest nems that way. Just squirt/flood their hole. I then usually suck out the mush/guts with the syringe or a turkey baster.

I would leave the worms. Good tank cleaners.

Lol where do you live? I have never seen a pistol below 20$ or a skunk under 40$.
I live In Texas lol I wouldn’t say they are skunks or pistol THATS just what I call them they are cleaner shrimp. I guess peppermint shrimp is the correct name. But yes they where definitely under 5.99 sorry if I got the names mixed !!!
