Should I be worried about chaeto ending up in the return pump?

Can pods get through that aquamesh stuff?
Absolutely. As far as cleaning goes, I pull mine out every couple of months just to clear out the macroalgae that tries to grow in it. there's never any detritus. I think the mesh is too course and the flow too strong to allow it to accumulate. I have found the occasional bristle worm living in it. It's also great for keeping snails out of the return section. Not 100% effective, but helps a lot.

Wow pulling out one piece of mesh/foam is too much maintenance, I know what my Pa would say.

You lazy so and so, but with more color.

For sure I'm LAZY, Lazy but smart, I also don't run a filter sock, and have my skimmer overflow go into a gallon jug. Run cheap Wifi Controllable power strips, ATO, I haven't tested the water except for salinity /temp for 2 years.

10% weekly water changes and flip Chaeto, Clean the glass, fill ATO, Feed the fish, eels and corals/anemone's (which is fun).... KISS, Rules to live by.

That is great if it works for you, but other methods work as well, no point pushing your way when there are many.

Yes, i'm talking about tank maintenance. Not what works ... gzzzz filter flows would work but who wants to have to change that out too? KISS

Why do you need everyone to adopt your KISS? People can do whatever they want with their own tanks, for me a high PPI sponge is as KISS as it gets.

Ordered the black and green versions of that Aquamesh. If it jams up flow too much or needs to get cleaned too frequently I'll put and go with the lid mesh instead. FWIW I run 2 x 100 micron filter socks so there's not a lot of crap in my sump.

Good choice in my opinion, do you run mesh socks? That is what I run, I normally invert and rinse them out, they do get a soak in potassium permanganate when they get too munky. Very KISS and low maintenance for me, personally I do not like the fabric socks, they are ok but I dont like putting them in the washing machine.

To answer the first part of your question - you don't need to be worried, especially if you have any tangs or rabbit fish(they'll eat it). Small strands won't hurt a thing.

Yep, I use felt socks and I've been lazy and just toss em weekly when I do water changes. My wife would frown upon using the washing machine for em lol. I need to learn how to use a sewing machine and cut down the cost since I am being sorta wasteful.
