Hi everyone,

I just got a Red Sea Reefer 425XL and upon setting up found this minor crack on the overflow. I bought it from @MarineDepot and have reached out to them for support. I have stopped everything on the tank set up until I hear back from them which I understand could be awhile due to the holiday. Is this something major that down the line could be a bad thing? It doesn't appear to go all the way through the glass but is definitely a crack.

Thanks!!!

You could probably fill it but if it is new, I would not accept it. I would want it replaced.

Not so much as to worry but I would put a halt to the building / setup immediately and start a return and replace communication which it sounds like you started. Don't go any further to save you time.

Thanks guys! I have started communications with Marine Depot but still waiting to hear back. I was bummed to find this after all of the anticipation of getting the tank.

Yeah - it is sort of a buzz kill, right? My suggestion to hold off is really to save you more work while waiting to hear back. The way I see it is that nothing ever comes good out of a crack in a box holding water. Good news is you caught it and taking proper action. I wish you the best and it can only get better!

Being that it's an expensive tank, I wouldn't accept anything less than perfect. I would accept a 25% discount ;) and fix the crack.

Not sure if you've spoken to team members on our side yet, but I am providing a link to this thread to our support team now!

Super! I am very sorry about the condition the aquarium arrived in but am also pleased we're able to make this right and get you a new tank you'll be confident using.

Happy New Year,

Jeff @ Marine Depot
