So I bought a used tank and cleaned it thoroughly with vinegar, rinse, bleach, now it has tap water running. Tonight I noticed what looked like a bubble in the silicone on the side of my reefer 170. Should I be concerned? It’s about 1/16” wide and runs a good 6-8” from top to bottom.

Edit: it’s actually runs a good 12”from the top

hi,is that between glass and glass,or just under bead?

Ya it's kind of hard to tell what I'm looking at, is the bubble going like 2/3 of the way through the silicone bead?

well that is"good"but i would watch, mark, makes it to glass ,problem!! ;)

It’s just under the bead that connects the front panel of glass to the right panel of glass.
It just might hold water for a long time. Or maybe it won't... Since it's not up and running yet I would be tempted to do a full tank resealing. If that's not an option go with @fishguy242 advice and just watch it closely

jmo..i think you are ok,if moves between glass panels ,there lies a problem, can try contacting rs ,but being second owner??? is def a flaw in workmanship ,do not see any knicks from a blade in edge

Yes, they couldn’t even supply the metric elbows they use, and they said if bulkhead goes don’t repair, get a new tank!?

I think I scrubbed too hard with blue scrub brush. It’s weird though because that bubble just showed up the last day. It’s been running for a couple days with tap til I get all my supplies in and I just noticed it today.

Sounds hard? I’ll have to search the forums. Would definitely like the peace of mind but silicone on the bath tub was a PIA I’m imagine it would really suck on a tank?

again especially if just showed today, watch close!!
