I just got a serpant star acclimated by getting to same temp then adding half and half of my water and his then just let him in. He hasn't moved and now the crabs are climbing on him and kind of cleaning him maybe? He hasn't moved from the corner I put him in.

Starfish require a slow acclimation. They are extremely sensitive to any changes. Salinity, alkalinity, temperature Ph. Drip acclimation is recommended for typically an hour or more.

First big mistake, I had to move him to the timeout zone in sump the crabs were all over him. He moved some when I moved him but not much since not sure what to do.

:( wish for the best for your starfish
Fingers crossed
I know most is luck but just moved the refugium light back over him and he moved quite a bit should I turn light off of refugium for the night? Or add a rock for him to hide time out zone is just him some sand snails and a whole lot of pods

If anything I'd just put a piece of pvc in there for him to hide in if he wants.

Either the crabs are after something that could be stuck to the starfish OR the starfish is weak and the crabs can sense that and want to eat him. If still moving, hopefully he can recover.

Yeah I was afraid of the latter and that's how he became my first person sent to time out.
