Should I break my coral off the disc?

So I’m pretty new to saltwater aquariums and before I get my first corals I was wondering whether or not I should break my corals off the disc or not. For example, if I were to use a razor blade or something to remove as much of the coral as I can from the disc, and glue it to one of my live rocks, would that be ok?

Many folks actually break off the disk to reduce adding invasives that may be on the disk. I keep it if it has coral tissue on it. I have a cyphastrea that had three tiny polyps left on the disk, I trimmed the disk and mounted those on the glass and now they are growing as well.

If its possible, yes, try to pop the coral off the plug. Sometimes, the coral has encrusted the disc and it cant be popped off, so then I just cut the stem off and glue the disk somewhere.
