Should I buy this fish?

Hi I went to my LFS and he had a sick Powder brown rang. He has popeye but is eating (not aggressively) and very fat. Question is if pop eye is easy to cure?
He wants $25 for him

Epsom salt + erithromycin (depending on how serious the infection is) should take care of it.

ItS not crazy but for $25 it's a steal. Would u buy it and try to cure it?

You can get a healthy one for $40-$50. I’d pass on it.

Popeye/eye infection is generally easy to treat (unless too advanced) but I would run the fish through full quarantine before adding to my tank after the popeye treatment.

I’ve bought too many visibly sick fish to count but you have to be ready that sometimes treatment won’t work. In your case the fish could lose its eye, in general that will be survivable.

Depends on if you have a place for him, and a QT, and are willing and up to dealing with a patient?
I've bought sick items in the past but only when I had space to deal with the issue. You have to add in the cost of the meds to figure the total price, - your time. If you really like the fish and have a place to treat it then you should bring him home and make him get well.

I’ve always enjoyed getting a sick fish and nursing it back to good health. I feel like they have a much better chance of survival if I try and take care of them compared to some LFS who just don’t have the time dedicate to every single fish in their store. Plus $25 is a deal!
