Should I change water?

I have a 45 gallon cube with probably 5 gallons in the sump I bought a dendro from AquaSD on Sunday night and then my duncan coral started rotting and died on Wednesday. My LFS told me to change some water. I don't want the dendro to die.

Its mostly a softy tank though I have a pink nepthea that's doing poorly but I think that's because of the kenya tree

I don't see any reason yet posted to suggest a water change will make a difference, but often folks suggest it when they do not know what the problem is.
