Should I cut my Blasto down?

As you can sorta see from the picture. my blasto is growing like a tree. I was thinking about cutting off the "trunk" part (it's about 1.5" tall) and putting it on the rock surface?
is that a good idea or will it hurt it?

I was thinking of getting to grow on a rock instead of growing like a tree. isn't that how their supposed to be? on a rock and take that over?
