Should I do this

I’m picking up my Tank today I’m so excited but have question. He used tank as reef n coral had live coral growing on glass in back and kept tank in the low to mid 80 degree area. I’m going to be using it for seahorses and will be keeping it around 66 to 70 degree area. My plan is to set tank up in garage and fill it with 45 gal fresh water and 10 gal of vinegar and let it run for a day or two then empty out rinse real good It has sump with refugium 20 gal long tank. My question is am I gonna be ok with doing that or is it over kill I just want my seahorses to be safe Need to know

Sounds good, I did the same to my old JBJ 28g before I sold it. No complaints from new owner.

I don't think you will need 10 gallons of vinegar though. You could probably get away with a gallon or two.

It’s a 55 gal tank that’s y I thought 10 vinegar 45 water

Yeah you don't need that much vinegar. Like 10:1 solution max I'd say

I'd say a gallon to a gallon and a half is fine. You dont even need to run it. just soak the tank scrape the glass with a clean straight edge razor to remove anything. And let it dry and then fill with rodi and salt

Yea your right. I'm thinking new plumbing. If your using the old plumbing this is the right way to go

I would use citric acid instead of vinegar. Vinegar can and will ruin pumps. But for one treatment and if you dont want to wait.. vinegar will do just fine.
