Should I fix what isn’t broken?

My 24 gallon AOI is doing well for the most part. I have lost a few corals and a few are just ok. . . but others including SPS are growing quite well. I would consider it a success overall. . .

That said I want to change to a sump system. . .

I have a 29 gallon tank I just drilled and could fit in the 24 gallons spot. . .

Why I want to change: heater and skimmer (and micro bubbles) out of the display. Use socks/diapers. Grow chaeto at night (and the benefits that come with it)

There's a simple answer to this - do it.

You are looking for approval to do something you know isn't necessary, although it'll have some benefits down the road.
You want to expand and experiment with new aspects in the hobby, try new things you never done before and that's completely fine, and I encourage you to do so even if it is only just for your own curiosity, that is as long as it doesn't come in place of your inhabitants health of course, and it shouldn't.
