So I just got myself some TDO chroma boost pellets and it clearly doesn't have the longest shelf life.

Despite instructions to refrigerate before opening, precisely zero of the shops that stock them did . Now that I've opened it, should I refrigerate it or put it in the freezer section(below freezing) to maximise its shelf life?

No need to freeze them, they state that refrigerated would be sufficient. I’ve kept mine in the fridge after opening and the ones unopened I just keep room temp no issues.

been using them for a few years. I keep the pouch in a drawer. No need to refrigerate. Years ago, flakes in the fridge prolonged their life but todays preservatives last much longer

I wouldn’t freeze, freezing can be harsh on foods, especially if not sealed, freezier burning and drying out, fridge should be enough.

Remember it’s probably a best before date rather than a used by date, not like it’s going to go bad at the displayed date.

I posed this same question to @Reef Nutrition a while back. While they suggest refrigeration, it is not needed, and freezing will hurt the nutrition profile.

I buy the large bag(16oz I think?), and keep it in the fridge. They last me about a year, and I have never had issues with them going bad in the fridge for a year.

Good to know...I have been keeping mine in the freezer for quite some time along with Hikari pellets.
