So I have recently been thinking about getting a blue spotted puffer and putting it in a reef tank, while I now them to be coral safe I know they are not invert safe, the thing that appeals to me is that it only stays around 4 inches and I have heard good things about them being pretty reef safe, however wanted to hear different opinions on the tank. I have kept big puffers in the past but have never had an experience with these fish before, please let me know what you think.

Mine destroyed all of my LPS. Had to re-home it. Sad. Loved that fish.

Well thats sad to hear, I most likely wont get it as I hate rehoming fish since it causes them stress, thanks for the response though.

With any of the tobie's it's a little bit of a balance with regard to cuc and coral choice. Most will eat or pick on at least one type so you need to work around it. Mine loves fungia, so I move them to another tank. I'm willing to make a little sacrifice because they are so personable.

I've had two (on two sepsrate occasions) in a mixed reef (acros, montis, euphyllia, and a toadstool) and they never bothered anything. But YMMV.
