Hey guys,

I have been keeping a freshwater aquarium for about five years now and it has been going great and I have been dedicated to it. Now I am getting bored of it and I am looking for a new challenge. I was thinking about this: http://www.advancedaquarist.com/blog/the... 1.5-gallon-vase-aquarium-called-maritza

I have never owned a saltwater aquarium before. I have read into saltwater aquariums so I know a little bit them. I know I should start out with a bigger aquarium but I don't have the money to do that. Tell what you think.

Link does not exist. Is it 1.5g you are planning? There are members here does have a Pico tank and give you pointers.
You may look into All in one tank like Evolve8, Nuvo10, Jbj12 or Biocube14.

If you haven't done salt before, I would get a bigger tank, the swings in parameters are pretty big if you want to keep anything in there.

With so many options to SW why limit yourself so? Go larger initially, I keep small tanks. A larger volume of water is more forgiving.

I can tell you from experience, as my first tank was a pico, it will keep you on your toes and can be a little more challenging since you have so little water volume your parameters can change in the blink of an eye and evaporation is a huge pain however it can be extremely rewaring as well. Also your very limited with what you can put in the tank

If you want the challenge and acknowledge that it will be a challenge, I say go for it. You will need to be diligent with testing the water parameters, keeping up with topoffs, and regular water changes. Also, you need to prepare yourself that it may not work out.
